MEXICO - RONY ORDOÑEZ - HONEY

Roni has been working with coffee for 25 years. He planted his own fields 10 years ago with the help of his father, his brother and paid workers. He has 2 fields at 1478 masl. He grows Catuai, Villa Sarchi, Catimor, San Ramon, and Garnica Chaparro varieties.

Each harvest, most of the coffee picking is done by paid labourers and the processing is done by Roni and his brother. The fields get cleaned twice a year and pruning, replanting and shade management are done as needed.

Roni's main source of income is coffee and the earnings get reinvested in coffee and used to support the family. He keeps around 120 kg of coffee for the family. He also plants bananas, oranges, mandarin, chayote and milpa, mainly for their own consumption.
